Economic Costs

Every second of every day, approximately 257 tons of coal are burned globally, and each ton of coal impose upon us, more than €400/$500 in externalities

Do you think you’re immune to the effects of fossil fuels economics?

Coal pollution generates negative externalities estimated at almost €400/$500 per burnt-out ton, plus billions of Euros/Dollars each year in direct subsidies granted by our governments.

Fossil fuel pollution (and coal being the dirtier and worst of them all) causes so many and profound damages to society and to the environment, that just trying to clean, remediate and heal from coal consumption, is affecting the world and also our own economic security.

“We estimate that the life cycle effects of coal and the waste stream generated are costing the U.S. public a third to over one-half of a trillion dollars annually”.

Paul R. Epstein, Full Cost Accounting for the Life Cycle of Coal. Harvard University, 2011.

One decisive element that economists call an anomaly is the cash flow our governments keep giving to fossil fuel corporations.
According to the IMF subsidies report, corporations receive globally up to €1.4/$1.9 Trillion in subsidies annually, all paid with our taxes. Some of those taxes will be used later as campaign donations for pro-fossil fuel politicians, to ensure that subsidies will remain untouched, even if some are more than a century old.

We are fighting a greedy and perverse cycle planned with the main purpose, of keeping fossil fuel giant corporations polluting irresponsibly and destabilizing the planet’s climate without any political and economical restrain.

Help Carbon Locker avoid CO2 hidden costs and prevent billions of dollars/euros cleaning, remediating and healing from fossil fuel pollution.
